Two weekends ago my friends Marcus and Frida got married and they had asked me if I could photograph it. I guess it is inevitable that you one day get asked this if you are into photography and have gear. So I have never really shot a wedding before so this was going to be my first time and I made this very clear to both Marcus and Frida, telling/asking them a few times if they wouldn’t rather take a safer path and go with someone with experience, a “real” wedding photographer. I don’t exactly know their logic but they still wanted me. I can tell you (and there is at least one person that can confirm this) that I was very nervous the days (ok, it was probably weeks if I should be honest) leading up to this day. With them I was trying to play it cool but I was thinking about it, worrying about it and playing out lots of worst case scenarios in my head all the time. They are my friends and this it’s a very special day so I really wanted to be able to give them something that would make them happy and something that would help them to remember this day. What I really didn’t want to do was to screw up… Oh the pressure…
So how was it? Well, I have to say that even if it turned out to be a long and busy day I really enjoyed it! It was a privilege and lots of fun to get to share this day with Marcus and Frida. To be with them through the whole day and share all the moments of a wedding day, not only the part we, as guests, normally take part of. So, what about the photography? Well I’ll leave that to Marcus and Frida to decide (and they seemed pretty happy with them when I handed them over yesterday ). What I can say though is that even though it was a learning experience I think we manage to come away with some pretty good photos and some of them you see here.
So I know I’ve been saying that the last thing I want to do is wedding photography but I have to say, it’s not too bad and maybe, just maybe I will be open to doing it again… that is if someone else would be adventurous enough to dare hire me
I hope you like the photos and I’ll be more than grateful if you let me know what you think.
Finally, thank you Marcus & Frida for letting me and Jong Ah share this wonderful day and weekend with you in this special way!!
